Hey Jillian,
Yes, fly traps like the Magna Fly Trap - Extra Large will produce some odour as that's what's needed in order to lure the flies. Decomposing flies will also add to the smell.

Will it attract and catch large March and Horse Fly? I am looking for something to use in my horse paddocks and stable area. Beck asked on 18 October 2025

The Magna Fly Trap works well for common nuisance flies but is not specifically designed or proven effective for March flies and horse flies. Alternative traps specifically designed for horse flies or March flies, or additional pest control measures, may be needed for those species.

Hasn’t been fly weather but this is still filling up -v and the only flies I see tend to be in the trap so I have high hopes for fly free bbqs in Summer. Came with easy to follow instructions and guidance for positioning.
