    Hi, we just had this arrive today. We keep hearing a beep that lasts a few seconds every five minutes or so. Both myself and my partner can hear it. I didnt think that any noise could be heard by humans by it, but it is very easily audible?? Is this a fault with our machine or the noise that is apparently ‘very rare’ to hear?     None of my power points are the recommended height of 0.2m. Inside they are either very close to the ground or up high above bench tops. Outside they are up high, but then again the rats are moving around up high on fencing struts and house eaves so maybe best to be higher, possums are in the trees around the house eating absolutely everything! Are the units effective for possums? Or do they not work outside? Inside the house has a lot of furniture and not open plan, so is it best to get one for each main room? Than you for your advise, I would liken to buy based on reviews but not if they won’t work outside the recommended conditions. Tracy asked on 20 April 2025

    The Rodent Free is a unit designed to be used indoors only for Rats & Mice. It won't have any effect on rodents outside, but if they try to move into the home, it will assist there.

    The Pestrol Rodent Free won't deal with insects like clothes moths. It's primarily designed to work against rodents, and will have an effect on cockroaches as well.

    If you have a Pestrol Rodent Free which is 10 years old and the lights are starting to flicker off, it sounds as though the unit has come to the end and should be replaced with a new one, as it has an approximate 10 year life span.

      After many months of hearing scratching and banging inside my bedroom walls and ceiling I finally decided to buy 2 pestrol units.
      I put one in my bedroom and the other one out in the garage as I knew I had a rat out there.
      For about the first couple of days I could hear quite a lot of banging coming from inside my bedroom walls and ceiling.
      Then after about a week I‘ve had complete silence which is beautiful.
      I swept my garage floor and I no longer have any more issues with pests out there.
      I would highly recommend Pestrol Rodent Free Units to anyone.

      This product seems to work from my experience.
      There are reviews out there that maintain that Ultrasonics are ineffective but I have bought 3 for 3 diffent enclosures and there has been no activity in them since the units were installed.
      The latest one was placed in my mother’s double garage where there was evidence of entrails but since installing the Pestrol Rodent Free, the evidence of activity has ceased.
      Can’t wish for better than that.
      Thus my advice, buy one, try it and evaluate for yourself, for $119, it is worth a try.
