Big Snappy Bug Catcher is the older brother to the Snapy (Yes we know it should have another “P” but this is what our friends in Europe have called it) Insect Catcher. Whilst we love the smaller version, we do live in Australia and we all know that the insects here are much bigger and scarier.
Remove Insects from your house:
Catch live insects and spiders to release them into nature
No-touch required – hygienic removal of insects and spiders
The handle allows a safer distance from the target and magnifying glass to inspect the catch before releasing it outside.
Please note: The product featured in this video is an old design, while it has the same core principle, the Big Snappy no longer has an extendable handle
By the way, insects are fascinating creatures, but often from a distance. Just in case, if you are called upon to be the emergency extraction person, but secretly have fear yourself, this product is exactly what you need to keep everyone calm.
How it works
It can catch a number of different species of insects including spiders, beetles, hornets, moths, small geckos, mosquitoes, cockroaches, flies, bees, and bumblebees. You can catch them by carefully placing the hood over the insect and closing the bottom of the hood by using the slider placed at the handle of the gadget.
How big is the catching area? The small one is 5cm x 5cm. How much bigger is the Big Snappy?Gunda asked on 27 April 2024
The catching area for the standard model is 5cm x 5cm. The Big Snappy model features a larger catching area, measuring 8cm x 10cm, providing significantly more coverage.

Will this tool catch a huntsman spider safely & easily?Nev asked on 1 March 2024
Hey Nev,
Yes, the Big Snappy Bug Catcher can catch huntsmans, I've used it numerous times to relocate some huntsmans I've found lurking in our warehouse!

This is my second Big Snappy. The first one suffered when it was dropped over the balcony. It is wider and should be easier for the bigger huntsman to fit, but not only doesn’t it have a telescopic handle, it is even shorter. A longer handle would be much better, as the spiders are often at the top of the wall.

It comes in handy for any bugs, but I think you need a bigger one for the large huntsman’s and a longer handle would be good.

Works well enough on larger bugs but the slide is too flexible and has a gap underneath that smaller bugs can get under.
