Key Features

  • A colourless liquid with a mildly pungent odour
  • Easy-to-use dropper bottle for more accurate measurement

How to Use

  • Mix resin with Catalyst.
  • Mix Ratios:
    • Fibreglass Resin: for 100ml of resin (cold day) use 2.5 to 3ml catalyst; and for 100ml resin (hot day) use 1.5
      to 2ml catalyst.
    • Clear Casting & Embedding Resin: Recommended mix ratio at 25 ̊C is 10 drops of Catalyst to 30ml of Resin.
For colder weather increase the catalyst by 3 drops for every 5 ̊C; For warmer weather decrease the catalyst
      by 3 drops per 5 ̊C
  • Use a measuring cup for the amount of catalyst needed or if using the dropper bottle 1ml = 50 drops. Mix the catalyst
into the resin using a flat stirring stick until a uniform colour has been achieved.
  • Make allowances for temperature, humidity, depth of resin and droughts as these factors can affect the amount of
    catalyst needed.

FAQ

What safety precautions should be observed when using this cleanup solution?

Given the flammable nature of this acetone-based solution, it is essential to use it in a well-ventilated environment, away from open flames, sparks, and sources of heat. It is also imperative to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including gloves and eye protection, to mitigate the risk of skin or eye irritation. In the event of contact, immediate and thorough rinsing with water is recommended, followed by medical consultation if irritation persists.

Is Protite Fibreglass Cleanup Solution suitable for use on all surface types?

Protite Fibreglass Cleanup Solution is not universally compatible with all materials and should be used with caution. Specifically, it can cause damage to certain plastics and painted surfaces. It is therefore advisable to test the solution on a small, inconspicuous area prior to widespread use to assess compatibility and prevent potential damage to the material in question.

What is the primary application of Protite Fibreglass Cleanup Solution?

Protite Fibreglass Cleanup Solution is primarily employed for the removal of fibreglass resins, catalysts, and adhesives following the completion of fibreglass-related projects. It is effective in cleaning tools such as brushes and rollers, and preparing surfaces to ensure optimal adhesion for subsequent applications. Its solvent properties facilitate a thorough and efficient cleaning process.
